Are porous implants as stable as threaded ones?

Threaded implants are thought to provide both better primary stability and connection to bone than porous implants, but research to back that up is lacking. A new study examined the mechanical stability of the two implants and found that porous ones appeared to provide sufficient support by increasing contact between bone and the implant.
