What do you tell your patients about essential oils?

Have your patients asked you about the use of so-called essential oils. Used in the mouth, these oils may be as effective as chlorhexidine at killing bacteria, writes periodontist Dr. Alvin Danenberg. He notes, however, that you should be aware of potential issues when you discuss them with your patients.
