MANATEE COUNTY, FL - As 2017 comes to a close, one Suncoast resident and Vietnam veteran is feeling grateful about the good fortune he's receiving after a roller coaster of a year. 63-year-old Raeford Lonnie Vernon did not expect to get ripped off by someone he once loved, but according to a police report Vernon's former girlfriend completely wiped him out.
