A Wyoming County dentist charged with illegally prescribing medication to an Olyphant woman claims prosecutors are illegally using a federal statue to prevent the case from being dismissed. In court papers, Lawrence Kansky, attorney for Dr. Christopher G. Bereznak, says authorities transferred the case to federal court after learning the charges could not stand in state court because carisoprodol, a muscle relaxant he prescribed for Ashley Gammon in 2016, was not considered a controlled substance at the time he wrote the prescriptions.
